This early-19th-century gate lodge is one of two impressive structures you will encounter on your walk.

According to local lore, this grandiose entryway – and the eponymous Towers – were built by Arthur Keily-Usher (a local landlord) as a gift to his wife. They were intended to be the preambles to a fabulous country estate, but Keily-Usher ran out of money before he could complete them, or start on the house.
